Showcasing Vino and Acrylic Painting

This is me (Vina) and my brother Steve. My mother used to draw and paint quite a bit, and Steve took to it like a duck to water. As competitive siblings, I decided if I couldn't win, I didn't want to play!  So, I always said I didn't have an artistic bone in my body.  It wasn't until I retired in 2021, and needed something to fill my time, that I decided to give art a try. I was instantly hooked!

I started out with hard-body acrylics, and I am probably most fond of impasto-style painting.  I have since added soft-body paints and fluid paints to my inventory.  I am a bit like a kid in a candy store... I keep rushing from one counter to the next searching for my favorite.  Heck, just recently I created 5 textured-art pieces using spackling!

I've learned all that I know about painting from YouTube tutorials.  My favorite artist to follow is Angela Anderson.  The painting above was from one of her tutorials. I also frequent the following YouTube artists: Suraj Fine Arts; Rinske Douna; Gilly Kube; and others.

My real name is Marvina but my family always called me Vina.  In 1st grade, I signed my paper "Vina" and gave it to my Art teacher.  She looked at me and said: "That is NOT your name! Go home and ask your mother!" --- That is why I now choose to sign my artwork with Vina (that IS my name!)  LOL!  ---  Also, my "best-est" friend ever calls me Vino; hence the name of this site!
